annual appeal
Dear County Taxpayer:
The Santa Barbara County Taxpayers Association (SBCTA) is one of the most respected and influential organizations in Santa Barbara County. In fact, according to a recent countywide survey, when asked which community organization influences them on matters of importance to their community, SBCTA came out on top with 54% listing SBCTA as the most influential community group.
Today, on the issues important to local voters, SBCTA has more influence than the League of Women Voters, the Sierra Club, the Environmental Defense Center, Citizens Planning Association (CPA) and Get Oil Out (GOO).
In fact, SBCTA out performed GOO and CPA 54% to 39% and 54% to 35% respectively.
SBCTA, perhaps more than at any time in our organizations history, is poised to play a critical role in how local governments throughout Santa Barbara County make important decisions. This is especially true with respect to reducing and controlling expenditures and enhancing revenues.
In 2008, SBCTA did what it always does and what is always has done, since 1956; we monitored local issues at the county, city and special district level, including our school districts. We educated, informed and advocated for efficiencies in government and the proper administration of public business. We focused on public policies while avoiding partisan politics.
As with most local nonprofits, SBCTA relies on the support of its membership to help us do our work and accomplish our goals. This has been the case for over 50 years and going forward, it will remain the case.
Therefore, I am hereby making SBCTA’s Annual Appeal for an end-of-year donation, which is vital to our organization's bottom line. Our Annual Appeal plays an important role in determining our ability next year to fulfill the valuable role we occupy. That role is the oldest and most respected and influential community organization in Santa Barbara County.
SBCTA’s Annual Appeal -for an end-of-year donation- is the only fundraiser we will do this year and so, therefore, it is our most important one for obvious reasons.
It is our goal to raise $25,000 this year. This would exceed last years total by over $5,000. Will you help us reach this goal? Will you help us advocate, inform, and communicate with the voters in 2009 to make sure local governments live within their means and enhance revenues in a responsible and ethical way?
You can do this by making an end-of-year financial gift to this year’s Annual Appeal. Please do so today.
Please send your financial gift for: $5,000, $2,500, $1,000, $500, $250, $100 or any amount you can to: SBCTA
PO Box 21621 • Santa Barbara, CA 93121.
I want to thank you in advance for your continuing support and generosity and for supporting the important work of the Santa Barbara County Taxpayers Association.
Sincerely,
Joe Armendariz
Executive Director
