
Tim Mahoney is District Manager for the Southern California Gas Company serving Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.He is the company’s liaison with community based organizations, business, civic and environmental groups, as well as elected and appointed government officials and customers. His duties include public affairs, economic development, environmental/green outreach, emergency prepardness/safety and marketing.
Mahoney joined The Gas Company in 1998. Prior to that, he spent nearly fifteen years in the not for profit sector including chambers of commerce, the County Taxpayers Association, Industrial Association, United Against Crime and Resource Conservation District.
Besides heating and cooling, Southern California Gas Company promotes natural gas vehicles, energy efficiency, natural gas driven water pumping engines, fuels cells and micro turbines as well as other residential, commercial and institutional uses.
The Gas Company is the nation’s largest natural gas distribution utility serving 18 million consumers through 5.1 million meters. The company’s service territory encompasses 23,000 square miles in most of central and Southern California. The Gas Company is part of Sempra Energy Utilities; the umbrella for Sempra Energy’s regulated business units. Sempra Energy (NYSE:SRE) is a Fortune 500 energy services holding company based in San Diego.
He has a bachelor’s degree in Communications from UC Santa Barbara and an Associate in Science degree from Santa Barbara City College. Tim and his wife, Myra, have lived on the central coast for thirty years. They have two adult children.
